Remote Learning Starting August 23, 2021
For Sigonella Community Schools

Sigonella, Italy —
Dear Sigonella School Community,
The purpose of this letter is to keep you informed of the ongoing situation in our schools. As most of you already know, the substation that powers the school recently experienced a failure, resulting in a fire. While the school is safe, it is without electricity at this time. We are working closely with the base leadership team to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
DoDEA schools in Sigonella, therefore, will begin the school year in remote learning on Monday, August 23rd. Each student/family will receive instructions from your teacher(s) regarding the remote learning plans. Students enrolled in DoDEA’s Virtual School are not impacted by this change.
As a part of our efforts to provide digital learning during remote learning, we are assessing technology issues preventing your child from engaging in online learning. If your family is experiencing a technology challenge, please complete this form. We will be reviewing this data to plan for technology distribution for families in need of assistance.
We will continue to work with base leadership to evaluate the situation and will provide updates as necessary. The health and safety of our students, staff and community is our top priority.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Sincerely,
Courtney Schonffeldt |
