About Educational Partnership

Approximately 60% of the children of military families in the U.S. are school age and the majority of them -- nearly 80% -- attend local education agencies (LEAs) throughout the nation.

DoDEA's Educational Partnership provides outreach to these LEAs to support academic achievement and positive educational opportunities outcomes for military children.

Children in military families face challenges that are unparalleled in the general student population. The average military child will move six to nine times during a school career. That's three times more frequently than non-military children. As a result of these frequent transitions, military children incur stressors such as differences in achievement standards, school protocol, course offerings, extracurricular activities, and academic requirements.

Through a variety of outreach initiatives, such as working collaboratively with the U.S. Department of Education, managing a robust grant program, and providing training and development opportunities, the DoDEA Educational Partnership champions quality educational opportunities for all military children.
