DoDEA defines literacy as: reading, writing, speaking, and listening across disciplines.  Our curriculum engages students in both traditional print formats and interactive multimedia to increase student capacity to be digital citizens and learners. Our standards-based curriculum allows students to research and explore literature and non-fiction through integrated reading and writing programs available throughout the K - 12 grade spans. The DoDEA College and Career Ready Standards for Literacy are a spiral design to develop student skills in all four domains, each instructional year, becoming more complex as students advance through the grades. Through our diverse course offerings, including Honors level and Advanced Placement, DoDEA is committed to advancing the literacy skills of all military-connected children to participate fully in our global community.
