DoDEA Student Information System (DSIS)

Welcome to the DoDEA Family Portal!

On Monday, October 31, DoDEA launched the parent's section of our Family Portal on the DoDEA Student Information System (DSIS). We thank everyone for your patience in bringing this new system online. Due to the large volume of emails (approximately 80,000), notifications will be sent incrementally to parents'/guardians' email accounts (listed in the student's file). This process will take about one week and is scheduled for completion on Monday, November 7.

Parents/guardians will receive two emails about accessing the DoDEA Student Information System (DSIS) Family Portal. The first email includes instructions on how to access the DSIS Family Portal and will provide the username (email address listed in student's file). The second email has a temporary password to enter DSIS. Upon entry, users will be prompted to change their password after the first time logging in.

Use the DSIS Family Portal to check your student's grades, attendance, and other information quickly and conveniently.

If you do not receive the emails with instructions by the end of day on November 7, then, please check your spam/junk folder. If you still do not have two emails for DSIS access, please contact your school for assistance.

If you are new or returning to DoDEA this school year and registered your student(s) using the Online Registration Portal, you have already received your username and password. You will receive an email from DoDEA with instructions on how to verify your student(s) name and birthdate to gain access to the Family Portal.

To Access the Family Portal:

  1. Visit
  2. Make sure popup blocking is disabled for your browser
  3. Your Family Portal Login ID will be: your primary email address
  4. Your temporary Family Portal Password will be sent in a separate email.
  5. Enter your Login ID and Portal Password into the appropriate boxes on the login screen.
  6. Click Log On to access the system.
  7. The first time you log on, you’ll get a pop up message saying that your password has expired, click “OK”.
  8. You will then be prompted to change your password. Enter your temporary Family Portal Password in the “current password” field and a new password of your choice in the “new password” field.

NOTE: Both user name and password are case sensitive. Your password must be at least 8 characters in length and MUST include at least one numeric digit, at least one non-alphanumeric (a character that is not a letter or a number), at least one upper case letter and at least one lower case letter. Passwords cannot contain your first name, last name, and/or a string of consecutive numbers or letters.

  1. Finally, you’ll need to set a security question so that in the future you can click "I forgot my password" to receive a new password, if needed.
  2. Select the Submit button to save your changes and log into the Family Portal.

To Add Your Student(s) to Family Portal:

You will need to verify your student(s) to access their information in Family Portal.

In the “Student Verification” box, enter one student’s first name and date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY) and click “Submit”. You will notice that Portal will refresh and you will have additional tabs for access once you have verified a student. Repeat the verification process for each of your DoDEA students. If you are unable to successfully verify a student, please contact that student’s school for assistance.

Parents accounts are created by the system. You will receive two DSIS Family Portal access emails that will provide instructions on how to access your parent account.

If after 24 hours you still have not received the email in your inbox (or junk/spam mail folder), contact your school for assistance.

Please follow the instructions you receive in the email. You will be asked to log in with the username provided in one email, and the password that is provided in a separate email. After you log in you will be prompted to change your password and establish your security question and answer. The next step will be to verify your child(ren) using their name and birthdate.

You do not have to do anything. DoDEA has a procedure that runs every 60 minutes that will reenable the account and send out a temporary password for you to log in with. You will be required to change your password next time you log in.

The Family Portal has a password recovery function. Click "I forgot my password" from the DSIS Family Portal login page. You will be required to enter your Login ID (primary email address). After you click the continue button you will be prompted to answer your security question. You will receive an email with a temporary password that you will need to use to log in. When you log in, you will be prompted to reset your password (use your temporary password as your current password when you create your new password).

Your portal login is in the email address that you provided to the school at registration. If you have forgotten your password, please follow the password recovery steps above. If you do not remember the email address you provided at registration, please contact your student(s) school to request that information.

No, DSIS does not have a separate app for your smartphone or tablet. However, the DSIS website will adapt to the size of your device.
