AAPPL World Language Assessment

The ACTFL Assessment of Performance towards Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL) is a web-based proficiency and performance assessment of standards-based language learning. It assesses tasks across three modes of communication (Interpersonal Listening and Reading, Presentational Writing, and Interpretive Listening and Speaking) as defined by the World Readiness Standards for Learning Language. NAEP

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas. Assessments are conducted periodically in mathematics, reading, science, writing, the arts, civics, economics, geography, and U.S. history. NAEP does not provide scores for individual students or schools; instead, it offers results regarding subject-matter achievement, instructional experiences, and school environment for populations of students (e.g., fourth graders) and groups within those populations (e.g., Hispanic students). CCRS Summative Assessment

CCRS Summative Assessments in Literacy and Mathematics are criterion-referenced assessments that measure how well students have mastered the College and Career Ready Standards. The goal of the CCRS Summative Assessments is to ensure all DoDEA students graduate college and career ready. These assessments will also help DoDEA students be better prepared to compete with other students across the nation and the world.

SAT

The SAT ® Reasoning Test is a globally recognized college admissions test that allows students to show colleges what they know and how well they can apply that knowledge. It tests students' knowledge of reading, writing and math - subjects that are taught every day in high school classrooms. Most students take the SAT ® during their junior or senior year of high school, and almost all colleges and universities use the SAT ® to make admissions decisions. DoDEA administers the SAT ®, but parents pay for their students.

The SAT Reasoning Test is a test that measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills related to successful performance in college. The current SAT scores reflect recent changes to the SAT which now includes three sections instead of two. The writing section was new in 2006. The SAT Reasoning Test is intended to supplement the secondary school record and other information about the student, in assessing readiness for college-level work.

"The most significant factor in interpreting SAT scores is the proportion of eligible students taking the exam - the participation rate. In general, the higher the percentage of students taking the test, the lower the average scores." College Board Press Release, August 28, 2001. The SAT results are reported as the mean (average) scores for each section. SAT scores in each section range from 200 (lowest) to 800 (highest).
