DoWEA Grade Level Standards:

We adopted the College and Career Ready Standards for History/Social Studies (CCRS‑H/SS) in 2016 with a phased implementation across grade levels, reaching full implementation in 2021. The CCRS‑H/SS are taught in grades K–12 and provide a coherent framework for integrating content knowledge with inquiry, analysis of primary and secondary sources, and disciplinary skills and practices. These standards reflect the knowledge and skills students must develop to be civically competent and prepared for college, career, and civic life beyond high school. The CCRS‑H/SS describe grade-level expectations for student learning and assessment, ensuring that all students have equitable access to a guaranteed curriculum grounded in cohesive themes, key ideas, and concepts. Through this framework, students are assessed on their understanding of key ideas, conceptual knowledge, and social studies practices, building a strong foundation for informed participation in a democratic and interconnected world.
