DoDEA 2019 Elementary Principal of the Year

Mr. Paul Hernandez, Principal of Maxwell Elementary-Middle School in Alabama, has been with DoDEA for 23 years and has served 4 years as a principal. Mr. Hernandez’s unwavering commitment to personal and professional values, beliefs, and attitudes has helped him gain the implicit trust of the students, parents, teachers, and the community. He spends time every day studying and striving to become a principle-centered leader with exemplary character. Stakeholders know that when he makes a decision, it will be thoroughly thought through, backed by logic and data, and in the best interest of students. Mr. Hernandez was previously Assistant Principal at Kadena HS (2014-2015); Assistant Principal at Stearley Heights ES (2013-2014); World Languages ISS Pacific (2010-2013), and a DoDEA Teacher (1996-2010). He earned a BA from Brigham Young University; an MA from University of Southern Mississippi; and an Educational Specialist degree from Wayne State College.
