DoDEA provides English language training to Japanese teachers in Okinawa

Through a partnership with DoDEA, the U.S. State Department, and the Okinawa Liaison Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DoDEA hosted an English language training — also known as the English Language Initiative — for Japanese elementary school teachers Jan. 30-31 at Kadena Elementary School.

Ms. Lachanda Garrison Selected as 2021 DoDEA Europe South District Teacher of the Year

Lachanda Garrison was announced today as the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Europe South District 2021 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Garrison teaches 2nd Grade at Bahrain Elementary School in Manama, Bahrain. She has 13 years of experience teaching with DoDEA, including 1st and 3rd grades, multi-age grades, and as an instructional coach in elementary mathematics and literacy.

Kristy Fountain named Principal of Heroes Elementary

Ryan Smith, the Department of Defense Education Activity community superintendent for Camp Lejeune, is pleased to announce Kristy Fountain as the new principal for Heroes Elementary. Fountain will assume her duties mid-September.
