DoDEA Europe Realigning School Districts in SY24-25

DoDEA Europe Redistricting

Sembach, Germany —

Sembach, Germany - The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)- Europe is dedicated to providing an equitable and excellent education for all students in the region. To achieve this goal, the organization plans to realign districts in August 2024. This realignment includes the creation of a fourth district. This strategic move will ensure that schools, administrators, and students are distributed fairly across each district, foster greater collaboration and synergy among teachers, staff, students, and the local military community.
District configuration will include:

  • Europe West will remain with 17 schools serving the UK, Benelux, and Spangdahlem communities.
  • Europe Central will have 16 schools in the  Baumholder/Kaiserslautern/Ramstein/Wiesbaden areas.
  • Europe East will have 15 schools in the Stuttgart- Bavaria areas.
  • Europe South will remain with 16 schools in Bahrain, Spain, Italy, and Turkey.

“This realignment is necessary for providing the best possible education and support to all the students in the region, and we are confident that it will yield greater positive results for our schools and communities”, states Dr. Michelle Howard-Brahaney, DoDEA Europe Director for Student Excellence.

DoDEA Europe recognizes the need for district realignment to enhance its above-school level support structure. It is anticipated that minimal positions will be affected by this change. This realignment will ensure a fair distribution of schools, administrators, and students within each district while also providing substantial benefits to schools, creating more equitable efforts, improving communication with military communities and commands, and fostering greater collaboration and cooperation between schools and the district.

Efforts to recruit leadership for the fourth district is underway. If interested, positions will be on https://dodea.usajobs.gov and posted on https://www.linkedin.com/company/dodea-edu/mycompany/.
