Dr. Judy Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mrs. Hoai-My T. Winder as Acting Principal for Yokota West Elementary School.
Mrs. Winder began her career as a school office clerk, teacher’s aide, and substitute teacher. In 2004, she became a licensed teacher and taught K-12 physical education. Mrs. Winder also holds endorsements to teach business software applications, computer science, and educational technology. Mrs. Winder joined DoDEA in 2015, teaching physical education at Shirley Lanham Elementary School. Mrs. Winder arrived at Yokota AB as the assistant principal at Mendel Elementary School in 2020.
Mrs. Winder holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Walden University, and an Educational Specialist in Leadership & Administration from Liberty University. She has also completed graduate certificate programs in Differentiated Instruction and Technology Education. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.
“I consider school leadership to be an opportunity to serve the community,” Winder said. “Children have always been the center of my life and have always brought me joy. I consider all students to be, in part, my own children and have always been thankful to their parents for allowing me to work with them.”
