DoDEA Announces Principal Appointments for Fort Bragg Schools

Fort Bragg, NC —
The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Americas Mid-Atlantic District is pleased to announce the selection of four distinguished educators as principals for schools serving military-connected students at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, effective July 13, 2025. These leaders bring extensive experience, a commitment to student success, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of military families.

Mr. Eugene Gregg, Principal, Hampton Primary School
Mr. Eugene Gregg, a seasoned educator with a rich history of serving military-connected students, has been named Principal of Hampton Primary School. Born in Cristobal, Panama Canal Zone, Mr. Gregg began his career with DoDEA in 1999, teaching language arts and social studies in South Korea, Belgium, and Japan. Since 2020, he has served as Principal of Mildred B. Poole Elementary School, fostering collaborative environments and promoting parent engagement. With a Bachelor of Arts in History from Louisiana State University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Troy State University, Mr. Gregg is dedicated to creating opportunities for student achievement through strategic resource use and strong stakeholder relationships. He is excited to lead Hampton Primary School and enhance the student experience.

Ms. Kaawa Fulton, Principal, Shughart Middle School
Ms. Kaawa Fulton, with over 24 years of educational experience, including 14 with DoDEA, has been named Principal of Shughart Middle School. A former U.S. Army dependent and U.S. Marine Corps spouse, Ms. Fulton brings a personal commitment to military-connected students. Her leadership roles across the Mid-Atlantic, Pacific South, and Europe East Districts have driven measurable improvements in student performance. Holding an Educational Specialist Degree and a Master of School Leadership from East Carolina University, Ms. Fulton is certified as a School Leader in DoDEA and North Carolina. She is passionate about fostering collaborative partnerships to support the growth of students.

Mr. Bradley Burgess, Principal, Albritton Middle School
Mr. Bradley Burgess, a North Carolina native with 25 years of educational experience, will assume the role of Principal at Albritton Middle School. Since joining DoDEA in 2013, Mr. Burgess has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and, since 2021, Principal of Shughart Middle School, where he led successful accreditation efforts and built a strong school community. With degrees from Gardner-Webb University, including a Master of Arts in Middle Grades Education, Mr. Burgess is eager to continue fostering student engagement and academic success at Albritton Middle School, where he resides with his wife and four children in Sanford, NC.

Dr. Lisa McGee, Principal, Poole Elementary School
Dr. Lisa McGee, a dedicated educator with 28 years in DoDEA, has been named Principal of Poole Elementary School. With 15 years as an elementary school leader and 13 years as a teacher, Dr. McGee is committed to creating nurturing, high-achieving environments for military-connected students. She holds a Doctor of Education from Trevecca Nazarene University and degrees from Austin Peay University. Inspired by her family, including her husband of 37 years and seven grandchildren, Dr. McGee prioritizes strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure a safe, welcoming school environment where students thrive.
