DoDEA-Europe families and staff,
In coordination with our military and public health partners, the decision has been made to cancel all DoDEA-Europe athletic competitions through the month of December. This decision is based on the recent sharp rise in COVID-19 numbers across the Region.
Discussions regarding the way forward for winter and spring athletics and student activity scheduling is on-going. We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with our military and public health partners on this important topic and will provide updates as more information becomes available. All decisions will be made with the health of our students, staff, schools and communities as our top priority. Our intent is to provide as many athletic and extracurricular student activities as safely possible.
I also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that, as we approach the winter recess period, it is critical to observe the health and safety guidelines we've established and implemented this year. At the start of the school year, we all signed a 'DoDEA COVID-19 Pre-screening Protocol and Acknowledgement' form, and it is critical that we remain vigilant regarding these protocols. This is especially important if you are considering traveling over the upcoming winter recess.
It is also important that you are familiar with the ROM (Restriction of Movement) policies of your installation and Host Nation prior to traveling and that you remember that conditions are rapidly changing and will likely continue to change as we move through the holiday season.
