Dr. Jackie Ferguson, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Jason Sheedy as principal at Iwakuni Intermediate School, located at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.

Mr. Sheedy brings 24 years in education and instructional leadership within DoDEA to Iwakuni Intermediate School. His journey began in 2001 in the DoDDS Pacific Japan District, where he taught at John O. Arnn Elementary School and Yokota West Elementary School. He then transitioned into administrative roles, serving as assistant principal at Andersen Elementary School, Guam; Boeblingen Elementary/Middle School, Stuttgart Germany; and Hainerberg Elementary School, Wiesbaden, Germany. He then returned to Guam and served as principal at Andersen Middle School, Guam High School, and most recently, Edgren Middle High School, in Misawa, Japan. Throughout his career, Mr. Sheedy has championed academic excellence, collaboration, and enjoyable learning, aligning with DoDEA’s mission to empower students in a dynamic world.

Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Mr. Sheedy embarked on his educational journey following his service in the U.S. Army. Accompanying his wife, Denise, to Japan, he pursued higher education and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Elementary Education from the University of Maryland-Asian Division. He furthered his academic credentials by obtaining a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix.

On a personal note, Mr. Sheedy takes immense pride in being a father to his two daughters, Emma and Lily, both DoDEA and college graduates who currently reside in the United States. His wife, Denise, a Universal Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Sollars Elementary School, Misawa, has been a significant influence and support in his educational career. The Sheedy family takes great pride in their DoDEA affiliation, having experienced education in Guam, Germany, and Japan, and actively participating in overseas DoD communities. A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan and an avid golfer, Mr. Sheedy eagerly anticipates his new assignment in Iwakuni, having heard positive feedback about the schools and community there.
